Power Equipment Recognized by AED Foundation as First Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program

November, 2020 KNOXVILLE, TN – Power Equipment Co., along with sister company Brandeis Machinery & Supply Co., recently became the first Associated Equipment Distributor dealer member recognized by The AED Foundation (AEDF) and pursuant to Department of Labor standards, as an Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP). This fall, AEDF was named a Standards Recognition Entity (SRE) by the Department of Labor for the heavy equipment industry. Power’s IRAP designation allows technicians who complete their apprenticeship through Power Equipment to also become Certified AEDF Technicians. This distinction demonstrates that technicians have received optimal education that lives up to the industry standard.

Shawn Robins, VP Product Support and Operations, knows this designation will help grow the Power staff. “The Power Apprenticeship program has been a key in increasing our service capabilities and keeping our customers’ needs in the forefront. This designation will now also allow our technicians to continue to build on their training and career development. It is an investment for both our customers and our technicians.”

Chris Gaylor, President of Power knows how important knowledgeable, quality technicians are to his business. “Power is and has always been focused on delivering excellent customer service. With a shortage of technicians in the industry, building an Apprenticeship program allows Power to stay centered on that commitment. With AEDF’s IRAP designation, our technicians know they are receiving a top of the line training.”

The Power Apprenticeship program was started in 2015. The program is conducted over 24 months with both on the job and classroom instruction. New classes are started every 9 months. Instructors are dedicated to the program, allowing focus to remain with the apprentices throughout the participation in the program.
